Apifonda is a pasty bee food consisting mainly of sucrose. It contains microfine crystals with a diameter of less than 1/100th of a millimeter. Each individual crystal is covered with a thin syrup film of dissolved sugars, which prevents the crystals from growing together and crusting. This allows Apifonda to be removed effortlessly by the bees and absorbed directly through the throat.
