BroedStop window varroa treatment
A second option is to put a brood stopper in the frame and lock up the queen from October to February to make the colonies brood-free during this time.
This variant has the following advantages:
- Bees hibernate and fly less
- No brood so less varroa mites
Due to the thickness of only 10 mm there is no wild building and this serves to keep the bee cluster around the queen during the winter.
Winter brood stop frames should only be used on single chamber colonies.
The queen is released through an outlet at the top bar.
